I've got my statements from barclaycard, have added up all charges to the amount of £1200 dating back to 2002 .... my question is how do I calculate interest, I looked at the info on this site and the spreadsheets for calcuating interest, it goes over my head all it served to do was give me a headache! Can anyone give me a heads up on interest, can I do an estimate? .... Also should I be claiming for anything further, obstruction for example, this saga has been ongoing for a few years where I basically gave as they fobbed me off with the microfiche issue, only reading on here spurred me on to take it up with Barclaycard again.....
If you just want to reclaim your charges, BC may well agree to a full refund plus a flat 8% bonus without you having to file your claim at court.
If you want to reclaim the chgs plus int't at the bank's contractual rate, it will considerably increase the total of your claim. The downside is that you will HAVE to file your claim at court and fight BC all the way, as they will argue against paying the higher int't.
You'll have to prepare and submit a full Court Bundle to the court and to BC. BC will only negotiate a settlement just before a final court date and will try and bully you into accepting a lesser settlement. If you understand, and can argue, the basis of your higher claim, you should win but it's a harder struggle.
Use the simple spreadsheet for an ordinary claim, or the advanced spready to claim int't at the contractual rate - your choice !
