Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I currently have a claim stayed with Abby but also bank with A&L (slightly concerned if Santander merge them with Abbey)
All was well on the account until recently. I check my balance at cash point whic told me the amount I could withdraw. I took out this amount but later discovered that on my statement is said that I had been overdrawn even though money was paid into my bank the same day and i'd checked my balance at the cash point.
In the same month a similar thing happened and I was overdrawn by 53p for maybe 11 days.
A&L have informed me that they will be taking £60 out of my account this week. I called them and argued this and was promised someone would write to me after reviewing the situation, as these were my first charges, so far nothing has happened.
I am concerned as i am recently unemployed and the £60 would come straight out for my Job seekers Allowance
Call them back to make sure they won't take them. Normally they do return or cancel first time charges as a gogw. But obviously you do need to know if they are going to take your money or not.
