Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
My daughter has been cought out twice with this [problem]...One company asked her for £3 something and they would then send her the unlock code for her phone!!!!!!!
She got a letter from them with a sheet inside telling her the ways to unlock your phone.
1) Go to mobile phone shop
2) Search internet
3)Go to market............Some mobile phone traders unlock phones.
etc etc...........
Dubious website businesses Conterfeit alcohol and cigarettes Illegal sales of alcohol, tobacco, knives & fireworks to children Cowboy builders or tradesmen Car clockers Counterfeiters Aggressive selling
Never phone or accept phonecalls from debt collection companies.
If you don't believe you can win, there is no point in getting out of bed.

Almost all phones that can be unlocked remotely can be done for free [I shouldn't be saying this, it is one of my sites to be launched soon] if you
know where to look for the software.
The only phones that you have to pay for remotely are WM6 devices that can be locked remotely, because the software has been developed by a Scottish [I believe] company and is device & serial [IMEI] specific.
All other phones require cables that you can either buy online or go into a store to unlock them.
The only exception to unlocking remotely is if you enter the incorrect code too many times, then the phone will get locked "permanently" so that it requires a cable - or going into a store - to be unlocked.
The other option for all phones that can be remotely unlocked and some more is calling your operator and paying £20-£50 for them to give you a specific operator unlock code. Most stores charge less than that though.
If you tell me the make & model I'll tell you which category the phone comes into.

Have you tried moneysavingexpert.com/forum cos they have a specific thread on that(worked a treat as well )
Cost me nothing apart from 5 minutes to register and post and 24 hours until i checked for the response.
oo can you tell me mine, it is a nokia 6300 Ta muchly
Depends which one. Behind the battery it will tell you which exact model it is. Even though it's a 6300 in might be a 6310 behind the battery. The following in that range can be unlocked remotely - any other's require a cable [or maybe the network might be able to supply a code, but that's no use if it's second hand or you have an unpaid bill];
- 6310i [NPL-1]
- 6310 [NPE-4]
- 6310e [NPE-4E]
[If it's not a 6300 or 6310 then tell me, it could be a 6340, though that is rare].

can a phone on the 3 network be unlocked and used say on vodaphone
I was not saying that phone can't be unlocked, only not remotely by somebody other than operator.
Yes & No. Depends on the phone. If unlocked it will ruin the 3G and it won't work on 3 again. Most require cable.
Some can use an unlocking chip, instead of a cable, meaning that no computer access is necessary.

To the best of my knowledge no. This requires a cable or network unlock.

I am using the Sony ericsson. And also i unlocked my mobile from mobile unlock guide but i miss the instructions. can any body tell me? also i need the unlock software for my nokia n-series mobile.
thanks in advance
does anyone know a free way to unlock my lg u990 viewty. Its locked to '3'
thank you
Only the older LG's (and I mean really old!) can be unlocked remotely. By remotely I mean you supply somebody the IMEI (serial number), make, model, network & country it's locked to and they send you a code to unlock it.
Any phone locked to 3 is a problem to unlock, as unlocking it will muck up the phone and it will never work on 3 again. It doesn't make a difference if you can also get that phone on "normal" networks.
Personal opinion: Anything that's been on 3 anywhere in the world should be binned. 3 is crap and ruin everything about everything.

mm..not what I hope to hear but thanks for replying.
I heard phones can be flashed to get rid of everything so that it is factory default.
Is this an option - rather than binning it?

Nothing's an option with a phone on 3. It will wreck the phone software.
With other phones that can't be unlocked remotely, using a cable can unlock them.
But flashing to replace the software to factory default, does not necessarily remove the network lock. (It depends on the phone.) They are two different things. The reason people flash the phones is where the phone comes with loads of junk that the network provider puts on the phone.
