    Default Excel Parking

    Hi there,

I'm hoping somebody can help me with a very unjust pcnicon I received from Excel Parking.

I received a letter last week with "picture evidence" of me entering a car park at 1100 and leaving at 2200 thus overstaying the 2 hour limit.

In fact I visited this car park (Stadium Retail Park, Wembley, London) twice that day, once in the morning at around 1100 and a second time at around 2200. On both occasions the maximum time I stayed was 10 mins.

I wrote to them a polite letter stating this, but they responded back rejecting my appeal stating that "We have check our data and have found only two photographs of your vehicle from the day in question. The ANPR cameras take photographs of every vehicle entering and exiting the car park and as there is only one entry photograph at 11:05 and one exit photograph at 22:04 this means that your vehicle was on site between those two times, thus overstaying the two hour maximum stay period. Therefore the Notice was issues correctly and the charge will stand”.

How should I respond to this letter? I am furious they have put me under such stress when clearly the cameras are at fault here. I have a receipt I used to by petrol at around 1pm on the same day. Is there anyway I can use this as evidence?

    Greatly appreciate any help!

    Carl

Excel well known round these parts, notorious in fact. It is a shame that you wrote to them prior to finding this site but no matter.

These private are a [problem], no more no less. Innocent people like you are often hoodwinked into paying by being made to believe that these "fines" are somehow official - they aren't.

You have been sucked into their "appeals" process. Appeals don't work with Excel, they just want your money. I suggest that you should not engage with them on their level, either ignore or use the template letters or just send a bald letter:

"I note the contents of the "appeal", I do not agree with your conclusions - see you in court"

Don't worry, the chances of them taking you up on your offer are miniscule. They know that their toytown invoices are legally unenforceable.

If you can cope with running the risk of receiving more letters that you will need to ignore, I like Barnsley Boy's option of "I note the contents of the "appeal", I do not agree with your conclusions - see you in court"

You will of course require them to turn up with all 12 hours of video recording to prove you never left the car park won't you?

Has anyone ever won an appeal to a PPC?

I do remember a heatwarming thread where a disabled lady confirmed being allowed an appeal by a kindhearted PPC. Things were not as they seemed though, poster revealed themselves to be a troll some postings later.

I'm sure the odd appeal is allowed - 95 year old blind lady who doesn't actually own a car, but I don't see it happening much, certainly not at Excel Towers anyway.

Well you could write, but I get the feeling most letters they receive will probably just cause them to have a good giggle. Then they'll just place your address into their standard rejection letter template and put you on the 'bothered to contact, so could be pressured into paying' list.
