Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
The better half got a pcn from Stockton Council the other day for 'not displaying a valid parking ticket' (code 83 i think??).
She did buy a ticket from the correct machine, the ticket also displays the car reg number, she fixed it to the windscreen then went about her business, when she came back there was a ticket stuck to the windscreen, she said the ticket had fallen of the windscreen on to the dashboard. She said it must have come away because the car was a bit steamed up inside (it was a rainy day).
We are going to appeal, just wondering what our chances are??
if council refuse appeal (do NOT send them the original ticket - keep hold of that) then post back for relevant adjudications. Or just check out the annual joint committee reports.
Just a quick update....we had a letter from Stockton Council today saying they were waiving the parking ticket as we provided sufficient evidence to prove a ticket was bought (it had the reg number on it), although if we were to ever darken their door step again they would not be very happy!!
Anyway, well done Stockton Council for seeing sense, and thanks for the advice/support from everyone
