What, exactly, is meant by 'continuous employment'?
Guys
I was wondering if anyone could help.
I'm about to pursue Natwest for some mis-sold PPI. Unfortunately, the loan was taken out 10 years ago and, while I've made a S.A.R - (Subject access request), I'm anticipating them saying they no longer have the details.
That being the case, I was hoping someone might be able to enlighten me as to precisely what is meant by 'continuous employment' as I think this could be my trump card in terms of mis-selling.
All the PPI terms and conditions I've seen insist on a period of 'continuous employment', usually, it seems, of at least six months.
The thing is, when I took out this loan with NatWest, I was between jobs - as they well knew; the purpose of the loan was to buy a car expressly for my new job - and while I had secured a job, I hadn't yet begun it.
In these circumstances, it seems to me, there's a good argument that as I hadn't been in 'continuous employment' prior to taking out the loan, I didn't meet the T&C attached to the PPI and it was, therefore, mis-sold.
What do you guys reckon? As I've said, I'd be especially grateful to anyone who can provide a definitive defenition of 'continuous employment' even if it doesn't, necessarily, emanate from NatWest.
NatWest: seeking unlawful charges + interest incurred as a result of those charges of £4,292.82 and contractual interest (compounded) of £4,559.41. Court claim issued 16.01.08; acknowledgement of service filled by Cobbetts on 30.01.08
... which would seem to indicate I wasn't in 'continuous employment' prior to taking out the loan and that, therefore, the PPI was, clearly, mis-sold.
Nevertheless, would be grateful for any futher thoughts anyone might have.

Re: What, exactly, is meant by 'continuous employment'?
You are quite correct Fred, you were not in 'continuous employment' as you were about to start a new job
