Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi I parked in this store in Rye and although at the time I didn't notice any signs we where only parked for a couple of hours. I have since recieved an official looking parking charge notice saying that I was parked there for over the two hours and that I owed £70.00 if I paid it within a certain time it would only be £50. We wouldn't have been over the two hours if we hadn't actually gone and spent money in the store! We have since been back to check the signs and there are ones there which say in great big letters FREE PARKING FOR 2 HOURS and then in tiny writing which you can hardly see it goes on to tell you about the fine! I have ignored this letter but have since had one telling me that they are going to get the bailiffs round to have my property taken away to the sum which they say I owe. My partner wont let me pay and I am terrified that I will get a bad credit rating - Please help.

They're lying...first they have to issue a court claim, and then win. If you subsequently didn't pay, only then would bailiffs be involved at all
My partner wont let me pay and I am terrified that I will get a bad credit rating
He's right and your credit rating has nothing to do with this and won't be affected in any shape or form
• do not pay
• do not contact them
• ignore any letters you receive, no matter how threatening
• they will go away after 5 / 6 letters
• ignore any fabrications about CCJs, court costs, owner liablity etc.
Thanks everyone, you have made me feel alot better, this has been worrying me sick surely something should be done to stop this keep happening. I wonder how many people actually pay these ridiculous fines. I never mentioned that the Parking firm was TPS parking Solutions. Just in case they are reading this!!
Ah, TPS Parking Solutions - part of the Ranger Cameras group of PPC's.
Forget about them and worry not - One of their other companies, 'New Generation Parking' tried to 'con' me in a private car park last September. With the great advice from this site told them to shove their parking charge ! Still waiting for them to take me to court as they promised in about 4 of their silly letters. Just take Al27's advice and ignore.
I have suffered a similar problem at Jempsons in Hawkhurst, parking for too lengthy a period on Bank holiday Monday.
I have today written to Stephen Jempson, Joint MD and owner of Jempsons Stores Limited, explaining how disheartened I am and that I am withdrawing my shopping from all Jempsons' stores with immediate effect (£140+ per week for 40+ weeks annually) unless he intercedes.
You have done the best thing possible, vote with your feet and if enough do that then who cares about the shop, cos its loud and clear they do not think anything about thier customers.
The shop more than likely will get a cut of the tickets as well,
I have now after a long period of silence recieved a further letter from a debt collecting agency saying if I do not pay the £120 within 3 days they will pass it onto a solicitor in Scotland, I am terrified as have never had bad credit should I pay now!!? Help please.
Hi SJ44,
You are doing exactly what the PPC wants, starting to panic and thinking about paying their unlawful charge. Refer to AL27's advice and hold your nerve. They WILL send you more threatening letters, but will eventually realise you are not playing and will chase someone more vulnerable.
Any further problems or worries post back here.
regards
Please remember our troops, fighting and dying in our name. God protect them.
NO - they keep on sending them because you haven't paid - nor should you!
Letshelp is saying is that having sent the first "final demand" which you ignore, they will send maybe another three before it gets through their thick skulls that you are not playing. When they realise, they will stop annoying you and go off and annoy someone else.
What do you mean they have to send 4 more final letters? Do you mean they will send them then I still have to pay!!!?
No!
What letshelp is saying (very tongue in cheek) is that PPCs tend to send a "final" letter, then a "final final" letter, followed by a "well this is definately your final chance for paying" letter, then they'll try a "look we're gonna give just one more chance to pay us something, anything, please just make us an offer" letter.
