A few months ago I realised I was paying PPI on my Egg Credit Card (balance £7300) When I realised that my minimum monthly payment was only covering this and interest I immediately cancelled policy.
Now I see that there is a possibility of reclaiming this. can anyone advise how best to go about this? I have already asked for all statements from Egg in order to claim back other charges. I paid PPI on my account for at least 5 years so the total amount should clear most of my current outstanding balance if I were to win this claim.
Any Advice appreciated!

Firstly can you post details of when your card started and the PPI on it.
Claims differ on whether it is PPI on car loan, secured or unsecured loan, mortgage, credit card, furtniture store and whether it was bank, credit card company, broker etc so it is new and we will get there in the end.
The more information you start of with without disclosing names, account numbers, telephone numbers etc the more people will be able to assist from their own experiences.
Have a read at the stickies at the top of the forum and follow a few of the threads and you will see the general pattern to reclaiming.
Hope this helps get you started and remember there will be someone to try and help but being new and wide ranging it may take a few minutes to sort out

Hi,
The PPI was with my Egg credit card account, opened in July 2002.
I was paying around £69 per month when this account was up to it's limit (fairly soon after opening account) So I would estimate that I have paid around £3600 in PPI in the last 6 years. I do not recall signing anything for this account authorising these payments and do not seem to have the credit agreement for this credit card.
Being young and foolish at the time I assumed that this was a requirement of holding a credit card account!
I have written to Egg asking for my statements for the last 6 years so when received will have a better idea of how much I have paid for this.
this is from a recent post on the forum advice to another claimant for mis-sold PPI.
It is a copy of a post but may be of use to get you started to reclaim or at least get the paperwork to start a fight back.
Have you sent a Subject access request asking for all the subject data on you and this particular Barclays loan or credit card?
If not and you do not have the original paperwork then you can submit a S.A.R - (Subject access request) with a statutory fee of £10.00 (a postal order is best and keep the receipt you may be able to claim the £10 back) and request all the data applicable to you as a subject and in particular the loan you are contesting.
They have a statutory 40 days to respond and if you do not get all the data you ask for (and you must ask for every bit of data in whatever format they hold, paper, tape, microfisch, cd, electronic, telephone call recordings or transcripts, etc) You must be specific and ask for terms and conditions, Customer duty of care check list (if the sale was and advised sale, i.e you talked to a sales advisor) Policy documentation, statement of account etc, then you can submit a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office or start Court action. The Information Commissioners Office is very busy so many complaints on PPI but no Court costs. Such is the magnitude of PPI mis-selling.
Good luck keep posting and you will get the required help.
However this PPI reclaiming is new and still in its early stages but things are coming together and CAG subscribers are real fighters.
The advice to newcomers to the forum is much the same if you have no paperwork send the statutory fee and request it under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998. If you get not satisfaction within 40 days submit a complaint to the ICO. If you need guidance on what happens or the problems you may face see this thread.....
Hi,
I have now received my statements from Egg and have calculated the PPI on this account since 2002 at £3200.
Just looking at one of the links from your thread, it seems one can only claim back PPI on accounts opened after 2005. Is this the case as if so I will quit here as this account was opened in 2002.
Thanks
Laura
No that is not the case. You can claim up to a maximum of 6 years back. The 2005 thing has something to do with the FSA or something like that (can't remember exactly). You can definately claim back to 6 years though!
Just to let you know I am at the same stage with Egg Sam v Egg.
They did the same to me, jut suddenly started applying PPI after a year. I will watch with interest!
No
DO not Quit.
I claimed back from 1997.
Keep at Egg, on what grounds are you reclaiming
