Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have a rear projection HD TV bought from Comet 2 1/2 years ago with an extended Warrenty until January 2011.
Last year a repair was made and have been very happy.
Now I had an intermittent problem with the tv picture ( vertical lines) across the whole screen, which the engineer had seen and they arranged for it to go into the workshop.
25 days later it was returned saying they had fixed it. Now 1 week later the original fault appeared. Now they are saying that they want to take it back into the workshop which I am not too happy about.
The reason being that I now do not have the confidence that they are able to repair the tv and would prefer a replacement tv.
Do I have to keep allowing them to keep taking the tv into their workshop for ever and a day? Or am I now entitled to a new TV?
The Comet Total Cover plan does not mention on how long and how many times they can " have a go " at fixing the fault.
I am uptight as I am disabled and watching tv is one of my small pleasures and the tv going away and coming back for just a week at a time is not my idea of fun.
Sorry if this sounds like a rant.
PS Both egineers have said they think it is the engine but their technical manager does not seem to agree.
I dont know why but I have the number three in mind. If after the third go they cant fix the same problem then its a replcement. I havge nothing to back that up though. Maybe it was something in an old warranty of mine. But I certainly would not allow it more than three times.
I am hoping to get a resolution today sometime. Eventually I got a veiled message from the call centre that they were going to give me an exchange.
Then after I gave them my original order number they seemed to hesitate and change their mind. They either only just realized that I have an HD DLP or that my set is 2 1/2 years old.
The upshot is that the promised to call me this morning (heard this a few times this week without any one calling me) with a resolution.
I did say I wanted a TV to the same value that I paid for mine which took them aback slightly. But I did say that my policy states that is what I am entitled to if they write it off.
