Hi all,
My daughter tried to defraud my account by intercepting a cheque book and paying in a cheque for £60 to her account. As we only use this account occasionally the cheque bounced. It was about a month before we got a statement showing we were overdrawn and charges of £5 a day were added. I phoned A&L to find out how we became overdrawn and after several weeks the sent a copy of the cheque on which the signiature was obviously forged. I pointed out to them that the charges that they say we owe are as a result of an attempted fraud on their bank. Their reply is that we should get the money from our daughter. Our daghter no longer lives with us and is unemployed. No money left our account. We have never been overdrawn on the account but we now owe £400 in charges. They have informed us that they won't look at bank charge claims untill the high court case is settled but that thay may take us to court for the debt. It seems to me that we can't take them to court to reclaim charges, but they can sue us any time they like.
Can anyone tell me what I can do to get out of this madness.
