New to this PPI claim stuff. Any help appreciated.
I took out a loan for £26000 in Jan/Feb this year nd foolishly asked for PPI as I was bullishly "Suggested" I take it as I had no way of repaying the debt if I lost my job?!?!??
A couple of months later I cancelled trying to get my monthly payment down, but it only went down by £4 per month. I phoned Nemo and questioned why and they said this wa because I took out an insurance premium to cover the length of the loan so what was left would be added to the loan and (obviously) interest added on top.
the wife and I are now looking to pay it off and got a settlement figure of nearly £32,000... all because of this PPI stuff...
Do I have a hope in hells chance of claiming this back???

Did you ask for the PPI? or was it pushed on you?
Do you have a pre existing medical condition? are you self employed, do you have a credit agreement?
Did you do a demands and needs statement?
Do you have it in writing it was a single premium policy?

I think PPI through Nemo is usually an additional loan.
Something along the lines of, you borrow £30,000, they calculate the cost of insuring your loan at say £8,000 over the term.
Through them you have to pay for the insurance as a lump, so they then add that to the original loan, therefore you are paying interest on a larger amount, and obviously when you want to pay it off you find out its no longer £30k but £38k.
They may offer something like a 50% repayment of the insurance if no claims are made in a set period, but it could be 2 - 3 years into the loan.
Also the early repayment terms cutoff is 36 months prior to that I think the penalty is about 6 months worth of payments, and your settlement figure will include this.

on the credit agreement does it state you asked for PPI i.e. is it optional?

On the demands and needs statement have you signed it and what does it contain if you can scan them and post them that would be helpful, or if you could give a description of what they both contain would also be useful.
