barclaycard helping themselves to bank account

I have a barclaycard and a Barclays icon

bank account, last month I didn't make the payment and received constant calls from their call centre in India whom I refused to give security details to.

Last Friday I paid the overdue amount and the current payment and have now discovered that they have also helped themselves to my account for the overdue payment

anyone else experienced this?

Hi MM,

They have the right to "Offset", ie to settle a debt owing to BC from any other Barclays icon

a/c which you have.

Have you suffered penalty charges on the BC or the bank account which you could reclaim?

I suspected as much, the buggers!

I haven't incurred any charges I was just annoyed that they'd helped themselves

The solution is easy: Keep your bank account and your credit card suppliers separate, this way, they can't offset. ;-)

I'm glad to hear it, but watch out for charges on your next statement for when your a/c was "out of order".
