Default Saints V Barclaycard & Others

    Hi,

I am a newbie to the site & have spent the last week almost, trying to get to grips with the procedure & reading all the posts.

My hubby & I have been pondering whether to persue our banks (Lloydsicon, First Direct, Barclaysicon, Alliance & Leicester, HFC & Halifaxicon) etc for the money they may owe us, but i must admit, just reading some of the posts & cases, I am somewhat worried about the forms, letters, the replies from the banks (probably telling us 'on yer bike!' & such like.

Reading really is not my strong point, but I have tried to read as much as possible before sending out the Data Protection letters that we posted today.... so thats the first part done, but as I said, reading is not my best thing & I hadn't read the part that tells me to put in a £10.00 cheque for the Info (DOH!! ) so I guess they will be able to delay things until they write to me asking for this!

However, we received a letter today (dated 03/07/2006) from Denise Raine (not a signed letter, all computer generated!!) stating they needed £10.00 for the info. They also say in the letter the following:

"statements prior to May 2004 are not held on a computer system or a structured relevent filing system as they are stored on Microfiche in date order, and therefore they do not fall under the Data Protection Act 1998. They can be obtained from Customer Services Dept. There is a charge of £3 per copy statement. Please note Barclaycard only introduced charges for exceeding the credit limit & Late Payments in mid 2001"

Well, thanks for a fab site, like others we thought that it was money we would never see again, so being on a budget anything we can get back will be a bonus!! & we will gladly donateicon to the site when our claims are settled!

Glad you have decided to go for it Saints. Can I suggest that you don't try taking on too much at once. Once you get all your information, I suggest that you just take on one or two banks at a time, as it could get confusing if you have lots of claims going at the same time. As you feel more confident, you could take on more if you wish, or just do more as you complete the first claims.

There have been quite a few threads about data on microfiche which I am sure you will read about in the forums.

    Good luck.

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
