Hi
My daughter sold a car over 12 months ago. She sent off the relevant documentation to DVLA but she never received a letter stating that they had received it. However, she received a road tax reminder and wrote to DVLA letting them know she no longer owned the vehicle. No response. Altogether approximately 3 letters have been written with no response.
A few weeks ago she received a letter from Moorcroft Debt Recovery demanding payment of £80.00. After speaking with someone on the phone they said that unless she could provide a letter from DVLA acknowledging change of ownership then she had to pay.
She asked Moorcroft if they would ask DVLA to check their records as she has owned a car since she was 16 and always had a car taxed, insured and MOT'd from being 17 so would they check which would at least prove she did not have the vehicle in her possession.
Moorcroft asked her to put her dispute in writing - she did and included the name and address of the person she sold the car to and she has received another letter from Moorcroft demanding the £80 and a copy of the acknowledgement letter from DVLA - which they know she has not got.
Where does she go from here? What can she do to straighten this out. She is applying for the RAF and cannot have any bad credit etc so would like to get this sorted out asap.
