Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
i left my car in a very residential area of brighton on friday night, (with the intention of moving it in the early morning. after a heavy night out i wasn't a) awake in time b) below the legal limit to drive, this meant my earliest opportunity to move the car was at about 11am. I was parked on the kerb of a road which has free unrestricted parking on one side and a single yellow urban clearway on the other. So alas i arrived 20 minutes late, to be informed that the tow truck had indeed arrived and toodle pip to my little car as it were.
I didn't think that it was possible to get towed on a single yellow, and some friends of mine were in agreement. It was an urban clearway but there were no signs warning of being towed.
Whats the score then? will i never see that £140 again?
A single yellow line means that there is no waiting at certain times shown on the nearby sign.
Go back and check if there are no signs as you say, you might have missed them. If not, then you can appeal.
