Default Help me - dodgy bodywork repairs

    Story so far...
Was planning on getting a new car so took my existing car (just 3 years old) to local repair outfit to have stone chips, minor bumper scuff and 2 tiny scratches on drivers side retouched and polished before selling.
On collecting the car I nearly wept. He has virtually re-sprayed the drivers side door and wing in mis-matching paint along with the front and rear bumper.
I took the car to the main dealers for a second opinion and their body shop guy just fell about - he asked me had I done it myself! The upshot is that it will cost £1000 to respray the bad areas and even then my car will not have the same value as before.

The garage who did this dont want to know. I sent him a letter by recorded delivery enclosing the main dealer report but no reply that was 3 weeks ago.

Any advice as to where to go now? I cant sell the car as I have been offered 3k below what its worth and I cant afford that drop. Nor can I afford the 1k for the respray.

I pressume you did not pay him? take photos etc. and get estimates/quotes for putting it right then ask him pay the cost. he will refuse but you must give him the oppotunity. then take him court for these costs in putting it right.
