Hi, I work as a community midwife and was run over whilst on duty by a lorry resulting in crush injuries. Does this enable me to apply for industrial accident benefit? NHS pensions also run a scheeme for permanent injury benefit but they are unsure whether I qualify as I was not visiting a patient at time but on my way to an appointment with occupational health (ironic eh) this appointment was a mandatory appointment arranged by employer. can any one advise as no one seems to know thanks
Hi,
Sorry to hear about your accident. I'm sure you are covered by your employers liability insurance as you were going to an appointment in their time and at their request. Speak to your Union.
Depending on whos fault the accident was you should also be able to take a claim against the drivers insurance company.
I do hope that you make a good recovery from your injuries.
Regards,
Paul.
