Default Clutch Problem on Peugeot 307SW Hdi110

Having read various subscribers' threads, I thought I would join you by letting you know that I have just paid over £700 to have a new mass flywheel and clutch fitted to my Peugeot 307SW Hdi110. The car is just over 5 years old with about 42K on the clock; we have had it since new. On holidayicon in France we were parked in a supermarket car and after engaging reverse gear could not change into first. The only way to engage first was to stop the engine, engage first and then restart. There was a big effort to change into the other gears but we managed to get home to the UK. It amazes me why Peugeot don't own up to an obvious design fault and pay for repairs such as this; after all clutches etc., are now supposed to last the life of a modern car unless you drive continually with your foot resting on the clutch pedal. I understand that this problem is only with the 110 hdi diesel unit. What with the niggly 'clean diesel filter' and the car going into limp home mode from time to time, I've just about had enough of Peugeot!

Oh no! 5 years and 40/50k sounds about right for a clutch, depending on use. nothing lasts forever, it is a wearable part after all. you may have expected more but hey! thats the joy of motoring! Not all clutch components are equal, some are more equal than others? you may have just been unlucky but by only a few K IMHO
