Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I had a credit card with HFC Bank (GM Card). I have some old statements with charges on them dating back to 1995. I used to pay these sporadically!!!
Eventually HFC sold the debt and ended up in the hands of Cabot (Mackenzie Hall were collecting for them)!
Back in 2006 I paid £500 in Full and final settlement of this account to Mackenzie Hall, who I assume paid Cabot.
My questions are:
1. Who do I make a claim against, HFC Bank or Cabot?
2. I presume because I paid £500 in 2006, they can't use the statute barred arguement, is this correct?
