Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have this post and some others which I will put on here in the Barclays bank forum but I think they may be better in this one
I hope someone can help me with this
The other day I was told (by a very rude woman) that if i didnt pay barclaycard £204 on friday they would issue a default notice and pass my account on to a collection agency.
The thing is since march(about the 2nd or 3rd ish) they have charged me £160 in these penalty charges and since that date I have paid £100 and on friday I had planned to pay them a further £66. This is because my minimum payment is about £33 and so with my planned payment would mean I would have given them £166 which would cover march april may june and july minimum payments. This amount easily covers the £20ish pounds they charge in interest and a further £6 for some life cover thing which they are still debiting from my account(which i intend to cancel). My point is that were it not for these charges once I had made my planned payment on friday my account would be fine and have credit available. So do I pay them the £204 and go from there or stick to my principles and pay the £66. Also reading my statement online it requests £170 and then a further £32 to reach them on the 4th July not this friday the 23rd june.
I would apprieciate any comments on this as im new to this claiming money back thing. I have Capital One, Halifax and a halifax credit card to claim against next
I gave them some money to get them off my back for now and have sent off my request for the charges to be repaid. They have sent me back some standard letter saying that they are sorry I am not happy and that they will try to solve the problem by the 25th July which is well past the first deadline so I shall ignore it and send them a second letter in about a week and see how it goes.
Can you believe it. I paid them enough money to bring the account level and they go and try to get me with other charges.
I will explain. I had brought the account so that it was on its credit limit but not over and then planned to keep up the minnimum payments whilst not using the card untill my claim was sorted. On checking my account online today I have noticed that it is already £25.95 over the credit limit. They have added some Life Insurance thing which is about 6 quid (I dont understand why they would still pay that if the account is over limit but apparently they have been) but here is the best bit they have added £20 for payment protection. I cancelled this months ago on the grounds that it was a waste of money and have certainly made no request for it to be reinstated, how dare they! Then when the time comes they will add about £20-25 of interest and say hey the minimum payment doesnt cover this lets add some more charges whilst rubbing their greedy little hands together. It just really annoys me we try to be reasonable with these people and they just keep screwing us over. I have emailed them asking for it to be cancelled and the money returned but I dont hold up to much hope. Do you think I Should add it to my claim?
not posted here for a while so i will give an updated on the situation.
Barclaycard replied to my request saying they will give me £96 which would appear on my september statement. Not all of the money i requested but a start.
In the mean time i got the balance transfered so i thought good when the statement arrives i will be £96 in credit.
However before the balance was transfered they added over £50 for something so the transfer didnt cover the whole balance leaving about £60 still on the account so when they refunded the money i am in fact only in credit by £37.
I intend to close the account and contine to recover the rest of the charges.
