    Worth clarifying that this is the renewal for the LANDLORD.

    Tenants fees to renew tenancy agreements are not being challenged here.

    No, but if if they are dropping them for the landlord then surely a tenant would have the right to challenge them also?

    No - well, not anymore than they already can. Theres a difference. A tenancy renewal for the tenant does, in fact, cost money(albeit not a lot) in costs for creating new contract etc.

    The argument here is that the renewal costs the agent NOTHING in relation to the landlord, yet they still charge renewal fees and prevent the breaking of the contract.

    It doesnt cost £50+ to re-write an agreement does it?

    No not at all - but thats a different argument. This is pretty much on "unfair penalties", your argument would be "disproportionate service costs".
