Hello,
I am was wondering whether anyone could help me. Approximately a year ago I sent a date request letter to Barclaycard asking for my previous six years statements in order for me to claim back my charges. Barclaycard responded promptly and sent me the statements within ten days. Due to me moving house two times since then and working away I have not got round to asking for my charges back. I am going to get back to doing it this week and I was wondering whether I can claim the charges back from the date of my data request letter or can I only do it for six years ago from now? My firiend who has sucessfully claim £1800 from Barclaycard has said it can be for six from the date of my data request letter but I would like to make sure I do it correctly.
If anyone can adivse me about this your help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi skamunky74 and welcome to CAG
I am pretty sure it would be six years from when you claim ie: today or tomorrow. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
It has been generally accepted that the 6 years can go back from the date that you first became aware that they were unlawful. But as has been said there has been lots of settled claims outside far and beyond the 6.Will move your thread into the appropriate forum for you.

You should include the interest on charges in your Prelim Letter and lba. You then add on 8% Statutory s.69 interest if/when you file your claim at court.
