Showed valid permit to warden as he was issuing ticket - still have to pay fine?
I recently caught a traffic warden putting a ticket on my car. I had a valid parking permit in the car which had fallen off the dashboard. I showed this to the warden and he said it was too late to revoke the ticket. I appealed to the local authority who did not take a sympathetic view. Can I do anything else to fight this further?

Technically since it was on the floor it was not displayed which is the 'offence' you are meant to have commited having a permit is neither here nor there. All you can do is put pressure on the Council to show some discretion, try writing to a friendy Councillor.

Yes, make a copy of the permit and put it in with this letter. Delete as aplicable. Send signed for .
......................... ................. (name and address of local authority)
Please find a copy of a valid permit for the bay/area as described.
It appears that I inadvertently miss placed the permit/forgot to place the permit on my dashboard/ it fell into the foot well of my car.
I believe that under the road traffic act 1991/tma 2004 provision has been made for ………………………….. (name of authority) to exercise discretion when a situation occurs as described above when a valid permit has subsequently been produced.
As I have indeed produced a valid permit, badge, would you please consider doing so in this instance.
If you claim that you are not able to exercise discretion then I would appreciate an explanation.
Please treat this as my informal appeal with the relevant discount.
I look forward to your response.
