Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Right, I was wondering whether anybody here can help me with a small problem. I am trying to find out what my IBAN and BIC numbers are so I can arrange a transfer of money from a person abroad. However, I do not have any of my bank statements to hand at present and I need to know this so I can pass the information on asap? Also does anybody know how long this kind of transfer takes at all?
You could phone your branch, but you'll need your account number and sort code anyway.
IBAN and BIC work like this:
International Bank Account Number
for example GB99NATW30303012345678
GB = country, 99 = bank no, NATW = bank name, 303030 = sort code, 12345678 = YOUR account no.
Branch Identifier Code
For example NATWGB12345Z
NATW = bank, GB = country, 12345Z, branch's own code.
So you could ask your branch for some of the info, but unless you have your own details at hand, you'll have problems filling in the gaps yourself.
How long it takes will depend on which country it's coming from. When my sister does it from France to the UK, I get it next day. When I do it from the UK to France, it takes at least 4!!!
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
The thing is is that I do not have any statements to hand and I am desperate for money. My father has said he will transfer it in, but he needs it asap but it seems to be a very elusive thing.
