Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
hi, a few months ago i had a strange transaction on my account for £82, when i questioned Barclays they said it was barclaycard who took it, to cut a long story short i opened up a dispute and got the money back, however now they have re debited my account for £82 saying that they can no longer be of assistance as the money was taken via a card payment to imperial debt collections and that i should contact them about it, all i have for idc is an address and im slightly apprehensive to send a letter through the post to them with my financial details on. does anyone have a phone number for them please? they are based in liverpool. also, how exactly do i stand at the moment as im £82 out of pocket, ive had no communication from idc and the money was not credited to my barclaycard account?
If you didn't authorise the pay't, you have every right to dispute this.
Did BC take the pay't or was it paid on your BC. It's not clear, to me at least.
If you have an address, you should write to IDC and ask for details of what the pay't is for. You shouldn't be apprehensive as you say, because they clearly already have your details.
Phoning is unlikely to produce a good result for you unless they can confirm a debt which you recognise. Write and demand an explanation in writing.
It may be that you will need to send them an SAR with a £10 fee, or a CCA request with a £1 fee if this relates to a credit card debt.
