Default Notice And Rude Employee At Halifax Collections Department
I opened a student account with Halifax 2 years ago and used the £500 overdraft facility that came with the account. I have not yet been graduated for a year but have been getting really threatening letters saying that i need to repay the debt immediately or a default notice will be added to my credit file.
I spoke to a colleague at the halifax collections department and cleared the overdraft in full yesterday. I then called back to find out if a default notice had been put onto my credit file. I spoje to the rudest employee ever. He would nt give me his surname or location and ended up putting the phone down on me. Can i request a copy of the call and is there a template letter available for me to use?
I want to really complain about the poor customer service. What are the rules?
Also i called back later on because i wanted to check that there was no default notice added to my credit file. Another employee confirmed that a default notice DEFINITELY had NOT been added to my credit file. Obviously i am going to check this with experian but if there is a default notice on there could i get it taken off because a Halifax colleague has given me the wrong information?

Hi , send a dpa letter adjusting it for your personal circumstances, this should suffice, also ring and ask to speak to someone in authority to make a verbal complaint, presumably you have their first name?

You are not the only one to experience rude calls. I have had my fair share and in addition to being rude they were also very patronising. On several occasions, when I would not stand for their behaviour and started fighting back in a calm and collected manner they simply hung up on me. So - I think they need and attitude change in that department and you should definitely complain about their behaviour.

Just to let everyone know after threatening to get a copy of a transcript of the call to take to the Ombudsman i was called by a manager and given £100.00 as a gesture of goodwill and the default notice has been fully removed from my file.

Hello I am in Mallorca and a friend wants to come over I have a debt with the Halifax which I was paying back Ten pounds per month, with legal and trade I ran out of payment slips and requested more slips, they did not send any but transfered the debt with some body else however the crunch of the matter is my friend paid into the bank 1500 pounds on the 27th may 2008 and as soon as it was paid in it was taken out by the collections department. This is not my money I have rang them and rang them but they are not prepared to pay this money back to this person, the bank new that I was in Mallorca working as they put a hold on my cash card for 1 week and I was stranded with no mone, so I spoke to the bank in the morning they knew that I was in Mallorca the money was paid into Stockport branch, the number that I have been given for the collections department I cant get through from Mallorca, my friend is going mad he has tried to speak to them but they will not discuss the matter with him as its not his account. What can I do can somebody help me please.
