Help where do i stand?

Hello all,

This is new to me but can anyone help me.
I brought 2 lcd tv from pc world around 18 months ago cost £300 each and with in 2 weeks they have both stoped working.
I know they are out of warranty but you don't expect them to stop working 18 months later

do i have any come back or have i lost my £600.
Should i contact pc world or the manufacture.

You could try both of them.. PC world first perhaps, then the manufacturer.

Under the sale of goods act they have to last a "reasonable time" after purchase and statute puts a ceiling of six years (five in Scotland) on any claim.

You are entitled to a free repair or replacement of the goods if they are not found to have conformed to contract due to a fault present when purchased AND have not lasted a reasonable time.

After six months from purchase the onus is on the buyer to prove that the fault existed when the item was purchased - within the first six months it is down to the retailer to prove it wasn't faulty when it was bought.

If you contact PCW I suppose they will ask you to get an engineer's report proving the fault.

You should go and talk to some body at PC world. They will tell you the best options you are left with.
