Can I start this thread by saying that I've never had any motoring offences, other than points, in 20yrs of driving. I've always had insurance, MOT and tax.
Tonight I was pulled over by the police for not having a valid insurance policy, it was discovered I also had not MOT and Tax. To add insult to injury my license was revoked in 2006 after I sent in a picture license version 18 and a paper license version 19.........
I feel ashamed and disgusted by what has happened tonight, I could have had an accident and hurt someone which isn't worth thinking about.
My defence to the police officer, afer he breathalised me 3 times, was that simply due to trauma in my life I simply took my eye of the ball. I earn enough money to able to pay all these bills but simply it just went unoticed on my part due to sever family trauma which has obvioulsy effected me more than I realised.
Everything ran out last month, although my license was revoked in 2006.
Can anyone give me some advice on what I need to do. My car has been taken away and impounded. If I need to pay in full then so be it, was my fault.

be honest
put your cards on the table and go and get everything sorted.
although the police are not social workers [though me and others will strongly dispute this sometimes!]
go up the station and have a wee chat with the desk clark, they will be able to advise you on your best course of action, so as not to make the situation worse. [ i'e it would be stupid for you to get the car back, keep it parked on the road with no tax. mot or ins or no licence either {but this last bit makes little diff}]
as you cannot get it taxed without mot/ins which you can't get because you have no licence at present, i'd be inclined to SORN it, park it off the public highway, while you get things done.
a revoked licence is no too diff to remedy - then go from there.

as you were driving with no insurance i summise the plod will be doing you for driving without it, 6 to 9 points straight away in court, also forces now have the power to not only impound uninsured vehicles but also to crush them.... speak to a brief m8 re any advisable course of action.
The police officer has been great about things and agrees that it was clearly just forgetfulness on my part after a difficult time. He also added that he will be putting a note on the report to state this and tell the CPS that I’ve now rectified my mistake.
I recall him saying 6 points and £200 fine which is just the last thing I need right now…….
Got £60 for no MOT, £105 for taking car away and £15 day storage. I’ve been in constant conversation with the police since Friday and each person has told me a different story regarding getting my car back. I’ve now got insurance but no certificate, my brother is going to drive me car home for me as a named driver on my policy, but some say they need the document, some say if its on the police computer they’ll release it. Now getting through to the correct department is just a nightmare full of contradiction and inconsistent advice.
You don't say you have an MoT, and it will not be legal to drive it home without one, they may be waiting outside the pound to stop you again as soon as your wheels him the road.
That also counts for not displaying a valid tax disc either so your brother could get stopped on the way home and he also will have some points put on his licence.
In fact thinking about it, the car could be impounded all over again if he should get stopped and then you will be back to square one only both of you will be out of pocket.

Easily sorted.
Get an MoT appointment arranged and booked in writing with a test station and driving the car from the pound to the MoT and from the MoT to home is fine without VED or MoT, as it is an exempt vehicle - all that is legally required is insurance.

great news.
you are correct about the ins, they might check, but either way you are legal.
it would be silly & to be quite honest, very unreasonable to pull you for no car tax, as the situation you are in prevents it , as such.
you have the proof that you are sorting things, so keep calm & go from there.
But DON'T be tempted to drive it yourself, it will be on the ANPR as a yabba dabba doo.
When you get your licence back, it might well be an idea to go produce it at the station - even if you were not given an HORT1 , [a producer,] that way the flag will be cleared.

yep thats what i said pat, if its on the road it will be flagged, so will be pulled, so if he was stupid enough to drive it without a licence, then things would get really bad.
by going to the poice station as producing, it will doubly makesure the flag is greened.
