    Default Barclaycard>Cabot>RW&Co>L egal&Trade

    Hi guys,

I posted a new threadicon re: Barclaycard on the forum (here). Didnt realise that you have BC group
will do more reading tomorrow. If anyone dealt with the companies I mention in my post, I'd like to hear or point me to the relevant post.
Also, I got the card I think in 2000 or 2001 and in August 2003 I got into trouble with paying it of. Since Jan 2004 my account has been defaulted.

    Hi there,

read all threads re: Cabot and Legal and Trade and still need your advice.

I used to have Barclaycard and have a debt with them. I stopped paying due to financial difficulties (out of work etc) and in Jan 2004 the account has been defaulted (according to the credit report I requested from Equifax today).
Since then I have received letters from ScottCall (May 2004), Cabot Financial (April 2005), Hoodson Solicitors (on behalf of Cabot - April 2005), Cabot again (June 2005 and Feb 2006), Robinson, Way and Co (on behalf of Cabot - May 2006) and finally Legal&Trade ( on behalf of Cabot - April 2007).
    And nothing since then.

I would like to settle the debt, but as I read here (plus moneysavingexpert /press etc) I could also dispute charges to the account made by the bank.

Where shall I start? What to do first? It's my only debt and it's a bit of money for me - 'offically' I owe £3000 to the bank, but the Legal& Trade leters states over £5000

I really have no idea where to start..
I mean - shall I contact Legal&Trade first? What if they don't have this account anymore? As you can see every year there was someone else claiming the money on behalf of Cabot which claimed it on behalf of Barclaysicon.

I havent received any other correspondence in between nor have been harrased by the the phone (not yet anyway)
I read sleepyethan1 thread as the circumstances are similar but her debt hasn't been passed from Cabot somewhere else.

so, what shall I do? and what about these huge charges added on the top of the debt?

thx for any advice -will appreciate hugely

I also found Mook's thread but no updates since Feb 2007.

Shall I contact Barclays with the S.A.R - (Subject access requesticon) first?
Also (not sure if it's imprtant) - on my credit report I have the same debt 'credited' to Barclaycard AND Cabot Finanacial - is it something normal? Two entries for one debt?

WHat would happen if I ignore it for the next two years?

Hi Antib and welcome to the BC forum.

Here's the copy of my reply which I made over in the Debt forum so this new thread makes sense.

Hi Antib and welcome to CAGicon.

If you don't have all statements for the a/c's history, you should send BC an S.A.R - (Subject access requesticon) with the £10 fee. Read Link No1 in my signatureicon below for the Reclaiming Charges guide.

You should also send BC a CCA request. Use letter N from here and enclose the £1.00 fee - http://www.consumeractiongroup.c o....templates.html

Start a new threadicon in the Barclaycard forum. Copy and paste your post above to start the thread and let us know what you get back.

It sounds like the DCAicon's may have added on fees, or it could be penalty charges which have raised the debt from £3K to £5K.

Also, you'll find many similar cases, here and in the debt forums.

Take time to read around and you'll see you're certainly not alone.
