    Default Sad mummy!

OH has just loaded up car with daughter's belongings (no room for me!) and they have gone to move her into her new house she is sharing in London..... must not feel sad, after all she is 23 and has been away at uni etc but this feels soooo final! Feeling rather bereft so will tackle the gardening!

Think of it not as losing a daughter, but as gaining some FOOD !!

Ever since my lot have been living away more and more, I find there are NICE things left in the fridge !!

Couldn't agree more Lex.... my food bill must have halved when she was at Uni. Whenever she tried to raid the fridge alway complained that there was never anything nice to eat! However have just ventured into her room and crikey, God knows what she has taken with her but the room still looks as though a bomb has hit it... will tackle it when we have a rainy day!

Ah.... I can understand these feelings. My daughter is only 17, but has talked of her plans to go to uni next year and I'm struggling with this already.... let alone her finding a place of her own eventually !!

Try turning the situation round for a moment though and look at the life that you've given her. Without your love and support, she may never have fulfilled those dreams to go to uni in the first place.... Sounds like you've helped to bring up a well-rounded young woman whose not afraid to branch out into the big wide world. You need to stop being so sad and think of how proud she makes you feel instead....

She's merely opening a new chapter in her life, that's all. You'll always be needed... as will I by my daughter.

i always remember a friend who had older children saying to me when my first daughter was born that our children are only on loan to us & that they have little buds in their backs from the moment they arrive. these buds continue to grow through the years until finally they delvelop into strong wings which will take them out into the big wide world.

seventeen years later i see how right she was & i am happy to see a wonderful, confident girl who will, in a few years, take her first flighticon. i can't believe how quick those years have passed & im sure i'll be feeling exactly the same as you empowered yet at the same time proud that she has got that far & able to make a life of her own independently.

im sure i'll be glad of the peace too, with 2 girls its a very high pitched household

Yes I am bursting with pride over her - she has a fab job in London with brilliant salary and started on her worldwide journeys at the age of 16!! I'm just glad now to find all my makeup and jewellery back in my room!
