Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have a loan with WF and when I took the loan I was led to believe that I would have to take PPI to get approved, it wasn't exactly said but they didn't tell me that ppi was optional they just told me this is what it is. Anyway my booklet came through and I read it and realised I didn't have to have it, so I called Welcome and told them I didn't want it, the guy on the phone said 'ok we'll make a note on the system, put it also in writing and then it will be cancelled' so I did that.
Then when my 30 days are up they took my payment anyway wasn't happy I called again and was told that it would be looked into. I've been chasing them for a whole month now and they have now taken the 2nd payment. The guy I need to speak to is always in a meeting or out to lunch and promises to return calls but never does.
I am so fed up with this, tempted to cancel the DD and send them checques just for the loan not the insurance that I cancelled on teh phone and in writing within the 30 days. Can they charge me if I do this?
If it were me I would write again enclosing a copy of the original letter cancelling and once the 8 weeks are up get straight on to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
I've been helping a friend re Welcome Finance and finally got a result today but only now the fos have stepped in. We were completely ignored by Welcome Finance before this!
