    Default Ncp Camera On Vehicle

    Hi

I was parked outside my daughters school, the duration roughly 3-6minutes as I was just dropping her off. I parked on the pavement, because if you dont, oncoming traffic can not pass, so not wanting to be inconsiderate, I parked very briefly on the curb.

About a month later I receive a fine through the post, telling me I had been caught parking on the pavement and the fine will be £100.

Now after investigation I found out that it was an NCP smartcar with a camera on its roof that took the photo of me parking on the pavement, i was not informed at the time.

The fine is on behalf of richmond borough council.

Is this right, should they have issued me with a ticket or something, and as I say I was only parked there for a matter of minutes.

    many thanks in advance

    debbie

    Hi,

Yes they can and will continue to because of all the extra revenue being created.

As a motorist we are not safe to park, load, unload or stop anywhere with these new mobile camera cars.

Started claim with Halifax on 30/04/08
Sent 1st letter for bank charges and interest

If this has been helpful then please give the Scales a click. Thanks

If it is though a council the ticket is probably enforceable so you will have to pay. check the wording on the ticket.
    see http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...g-tickets.html

You may get away by saying you were not the driver!!

It does not matter who the driver is the owner is liable. Richmond Council use these cars around schools a lot because parking on the pavement or school zig zags is hazardous to the children who use the pavements for their intended purpose ie walking!! If you are in danger of blocking the road then park somewhere else and walk. Councils have been able to enforce by CCTV for sometime now and yes you should receive a ticket but by post.

If you park on the footway you are breaking the law camera car or no camera car! CCTV has not made it unsafe to park, load or unload unless of course you do it where you are not meant to then you deserve a ticket anyway for not bothering to read the signs.

Only in London (I appreciate that this is Richmond, but the matter isn't a blanket prohibition).
