    Default my brother , his van and the police

    he was driving up the road was using his mobile phoneicon he got fined the police impounded his van for no insurance he was fully comp oh his own vehicle he brought this van for the little jobs so used his insurance to drive it wherever so technically he is and was insured he has shown the local police his docs yet they still wont release it think my brother said it would cost him 500 quid approx in storage fees yet my brother contested it from day 1 he has written to police etc so what would happen to it if police crushed it etc and so on the van he paid 1800 quid

    If he has fully comp on his own vehicle, he may well have a provision that alllows him to drive other cars (normally called DOC) that are not owned or under HP to him.

    Therefore, from what you have posted, he was not insured to drive the van. They are entitled to seizeicon it and crush it. If he wants it back, he will need to get proper insurance for it (and if he wants to use it for business, this needs to include business use cover)

    He is also liable for the recovery and storage fees.

    he had reply today they have disposed of the van he wasnt the legal owner which what he didnt tell me as i was going to pay for it to be taken out etc but he said to late now oh well hey no he will still owe the company for the van now oh well his problem i suppose i was only trying to help him thanks for any replys thou
