Angry Can First Choice do this?

    Hi All
Booked a holidayicon back in December for May this year. In the brochure it stated we would get 1 day's free car hire included.
The holiday was paid for in full in February.
We received a letter dated 7th April stating that the free car hire offer was printed in error and is no longer available.
I phone First Choice customer services who flatly refused to give either the car hire or compensation for us not receiving what we had originally paid for.
I know they have have tricky terms and conditionsicon, but surely we have a completed contract for the service they offered once we had paid in full? Should'nt they be liable to give us some money back?
(I know its not a lot to complain about, but I reckon they trying to pull a fast one here.....)
    Any advice?

The offer is only worth £10, and it actually costs considerably more as you have to pay for a full tank of fuel and all the other gotchas. (Insurance, excess....) none of which are covered by the voucher. Strange it was only for 1 day though....

    Hi,

Buzby is right. It will just be the 'hire' of the car that is free. Most likely you will still have to pay the insurance for the free day. You don't say where you are going but here in Cyprus it is 13 euros a day.
If the fuel is also payable its unlikely you will use a full tank in one day (unless you do a mega amount of driving) and you will lose out that way too.

If you do want a car you can do it with FC or anyone you want if you don't want to give them any further business.

Thanks for your comments. I must say their customer services was very arrogant.
I'll not be using First Choice again, they've just lost any chance of my business in the future, all for the sake of a £10 voucher....

I run my own business and find it incredible how a company of that size wants to disgruntle it's customers over such a small value thing. The customer is always right as they say

    Thanks again

    Hi DanBerks,

Why write a letter of complaint, many members suggest you always write, telephoning costs much more and you will only get some snotty call centre monkey IMHO does not understand the difference between being assertive and aggressive.

    Regards

    Andy
