I had a credit limit of £500 with a Capital One card, for one reason or another, i found it difficult to repay my minimum payment. In 2005, the account was passed to CapQuest for collection with a balance owing of £750. I presume that charges were added to the balance totalling approx £250. I repayed the outstanding amount in FULL to capquest and that was the end of it. However, am i able to recalim these charges, event hough i have repaid the debt in full? If so, where do i start? Is there a template letter i can sen to Capiatl One requesting details of all of the charges applied to my account over the years? And what happend from then?
Re: Reclaiming my over limit charges from Capital One
Hi Rebchappers
Yes you can claim the charges back on the account, even though it is closed. You first of all need to get your statements. You do this by sending an S.A.R. (Subject access request). This costs £10 in total for all of the data they hold. Send the S.A.R. to Capital One not Capquest.
Another thing to consider, is that if there was a default issued, then you may be able to get that removed from your credit file, if the charges caused this.
