    Default housing benefit

I recently have returned to work full time after having been out of work,I have had no problem with the income support people I told them they stopped my money and gave me £250 back to work money ,I have also taken over paying my rent.

My problem is the council tax people I have explained 4 times to them by letter (they won't talk on phone)that I want to pay my council tax bill by installments as I am frightened of getting into arrears but they have only sent an overpaymenticon bill for £50 for the 21st -1st april for benefit overpaymenticon,I have paid this .
I wonder if I should just write and tell them of my intention to pay the bill in 12 installments and use the payment slips they sent me for the overpayment,or do I stash the money and wait for the demand ,this option is the one I least like as I like to know my bills are paid and I have no hidden surprises.
any advice would be gratefully received.
    thanks

    Hi there.

You usually do get the option of paying your council tax in instalments - they are in all likelihood just preparing the bill for you.

All help is merely my opinion only - please seek legal advice if you need to as I am only qualified in SEN law.

Council tax is paid in 10 instalments. So that you don't get yourself into deep water and end up with a large bill, divide your CT by ten and start paying it now. They wont refuse to accept it.
