Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Last year (Jan 07) BCW contacted me pursuing an alleged unpaid debt.
I demanded the usual evidence etc and they subsequently closed the case.
I recently viewed my credit file, and BCW have logged a search in Jan 07 for an unpaid debt, which is now affecting my getting credit.
I have wrote to BCW demanding that they remove the information, as the alleged debt was not proven to be mine, therefore it should not be on my credit file.
Is their anything else I should / can do to ensure this onfo gets removed?
I have also threatened to refer the case to the OFT and the Information commissioners if it is not removed.
Neil, you should write to them asking for their official complaints procedure and ask them to remove the data....once that is exhausted you should then ask the fos and the ICO to investigate

Received letter from BCW today (much to my surprise) :o stating that "my concerns have duly recorded" on their system file, and the issue is being investigated further.
They again confirmed that the account is closed at their office, and enclosed a copy of their internal complaints procedure.
It was sent from their Quality Assurance Management Team.
