    Default 'Central Ticketing' Excessive Fine??

    Hi There

My Partner recently received a parking chargeicon for Unauthorised Parking in Manchester. She had parked unknowingly in a parking spot used by residential flats. Seh accepts there was signage, a short distance away, which she hadn't noticed and although disgruntled, is happy to pay the fine.

The bugbear is that the charge is £85 reduced to £60 if you pay within 14 days. Bearing in mind a standard council parking chargeicon is only £60 (£30 if you pay within 28days), I find this kind of sum to be extortionate to say the least.

Has anyone ever dealt with this company before (Central Ticketing), and is there anyway of them accpeting a lesser payment - for example £30 or £40.

    Look forward to the replies.

    Thanks

    Graham Rawlinson

Hi Graham, Welcome to the forums.

How does not paying a penny grab you.

If your wife did not see the signs she could not have entered into a contract.

Have a read of this guide which you will find in the stickies section of the forum. Then have a read of the template letters in the same section. The guide will explain your rights and the templates give examples of how to respond.

If you have any questions post back.

One other thing it is best not to put any identifying data in your posts. They are read by some PPCs.

I'm glad to see your wife is the honest sort. My advice to her would be to stay honest and pay the fine she has incurred. Follow the dishonest tactics suggested here at your peril.

At the risk of encouraging a troll...

She has not incurred any fine whatsoever. No private company can issue fines in these circumstances.

None of the tactics mentioned here are dishonest - exactly the opposite in fact.
