Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Have been thinking about doing this for ages and have been putting it off but after reading some of the success stories now is the time. So watch out Lloyds TSB here I come!!!
HI Shazamaca
I put it off for a long time, was a bit concerned ,what with it being the bank!! the place that always haunted me, but once you start you realise your rights and how cruel the bank has been, you get stronger.
Pop in the Bear Garden for some funny links and off topic chat.
Thanks for this. Can you confirm something else for me please. Can I only claim back charges for unpaid DD's or can I also claim for being charged for being over my overdraft limit?
Unfortunately i'm not an expert in any given field legally and my advice and that of the Consumer Action Group and the Bank Action Group is given without prejudice and without liability so please if in any doubt whatsoever seek help from an insured qualified professional. Contents of my posts are purely my own personal opinions and not condoned or endorsed in any way, shape or form by CAG. Thank you!
I have read the FAQ's and I know that I can claim my charges back for 6 years but can someone confirm.
Is it 6 years from todays date or can I go back to a specific date?
I have all my bank statements I knew they would come in handy one day!!!
If you have statements beyond 6 years, I would suggest you claim for all of the charges you can find. The 6 year 'rule' actually refers to a statute of limitations - but we believe that the banks concealed information from us and, as such, this rule would not apply.
Other members have successfully reclaimed beyond 6 years, but if you had to ask for a list of charges, I doubt that they would supply beyond it (willfully, at least).
Once you are ready, post a new thread in the relevant bank or credit card forum
Best of luck and welcome aboard.
