Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Is there a legal form or letter to request banks to remove their defaults from our credit files - if I have paid off their debts - years ago!
It is so shocking and upsetting that I am still being scrutinised by their initial mistakes after so many years still ongoing! I have closed all my accounts with them and thay had assured me that they would remove all details from my credit file!
Even if accounts are closed, by law default notices will remain on your credit file for 6 years then must be removed. If the six years have passed and it is still on your file, you may with to contact all of the credit reporting agencies insisting that they take it off with immediate effect pointing out that the statute of limitation has past.
Best practice is to sign up with a company like Checkmycreditfile to enable you to constantly monitor your file to avoid these problems. I have found that it is not enough to request your yearly free report - more vigilance is required if you wish to stay on top of your credit file.
