    Default Dixons & faulty goods

Hi , i brought a Plasma which cost me over a grand but on the day of delivery i opened the box and the tv not only was faulty it also seems to me that its been used before.

I rang Dixons who told me that i would have to wait till head office rings me in a few days , few days passes and i ring again , this time im told i need to wait upto 2 weeks and they dont know when they will next have stock of the tv.

What can i do , i think i want to cancel now , but when i try to ring to cancel i get fobbed of saying wait till head office call you.

Is there a template letter i can send them or anything i can do at all?

Im sure they have done this so my 7 days have passed and i cant do nothing now but i did ring them on the day it got delivered

I feel im just getting messed about and im sick of keep ringing

Oh and the same tv says its instock online and gave me a delivery date but when ir ang customer service to tell them this , im told they dont have enough stock to supply me , i said i only want one!!!

He then said oh but there seconds or maybe faulty so its why its showing instock....but your going to get a brand new one!!!

I mean are they for real , so the ones showing instock online and when people order do they get seconds?

    Well, don't ring then!

What do you mean by 7 days? Where does that come from?

You can do plenty. You need to write to them and say that you are rejecting the goods under SOGAicon 1979 as faulty, and that you want a replacement/refund ASAP. Make sure you use the words "rejecting the goods". Tell them to let you have a collection date by return post.

Did you buy online or through store? I'm guessing online?

Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.

Write them a letter stating that these are not the goods you ordered and that you expect them to collect and refund your money asap. I bought a TV from Dixons and they delivered it on the Sunday so you can easily get a collection time to suit. Suggest a few appropriate dates for collection, it shows your being helpful but you must state that the TV was not in new condition and that's not what you agreed to pay for.

I'm assuming that's it's still boxed is it? Regardless of that, even if it's faulty, the seller is responsible for the first 6 months I believe. If a fault develops within the first 6 months it is seen as being sold as unfit for purpose. Someone might want to clarify this.

I already have, fed up. On this brand new item, the term to use is "rejecting the goods". No ifs, no buts.

More importantly, how did you buy it? If fully mail order, then youve got strong protection, but if you bought it in-store and they simply delivered it for your convenience, you've less clout with SOGAicon, but you cannot wait - forget waiting to phone anyone, reject the goods by letter, and send it 1st Class Mail Recorded and keep the receipt. If a store purchase, you need to arrange to get it back yourself - if a web purchase, you can ask them to arrange collection. Also, if you paid with a CC you'll have some additional protection.

Hi, I'm a ex employee of DSG Retail (Dixons)

whats happend is not very good, im not aware of all the case facts but what i can say is you have been messed around here.

It does not take weeks to sort out an issue like this

Did you purchase the TV from a local store and have it delivered?

If so, contact the local store and speak with the store manager

if however you purchased it from the Internet, which this is what i think you may have now that dixons are only at Airports etc.

If you let me know your area of which you live, i will find out the contact info for your local wherehouse (LDC)

here you will be able to contact the manager there of which should arrange a swap out. This should take no longer then a few days to complete.

After reading more in detail and they have advised the TV is not in stock.

I would request voucers to the value of the TV and goto a local currys store.

I know, this will cost more in the currys store then the dixons website, however here is a tip

Look on the currys website for a TV of your like etc

Go to Reseve and Collect Option (This will give you the Internet Price, which could be as much as £200 cheaper then the instore price.

when you goto the store to collect / Pay

you will be given the Internet price and not the Instore

They might still have one in Duty Free but for the best part the high street branches have all become Curry's Digital I think.
