Hi All,
Just want to say what a great site & Thank You all so much.
I am currently trying to re mortgageand experiencing problems due to my credit score.
I defaulted on my HSBCcredit card in May 2005, this was passed onto MCS then Marlin Financial Services last year. The balance is still outstanding (£3000), some of which were charges. I am currently paying £10 a month and have offered to clear the debt by offering £1500 as i am a single mother with a p/t job. They point blank refused and said that they would not accept anything below the full balance and now may look into putting a standing charge against the house.
I was advised that having the debt 'Settled' on my credit file would mean that less lenders would turn me down for a mortgage. I'm so worried that when my fixed rate deal comes to an end that i will fall behind with the mortgage as its going from 4.9% APR to 7.5%, and that having a standing charge would get in the way of a mortgage.
Please can anyone help, however small your advice, anything would be appreciated. Thanks
