    Red face Barclaycard... Can I claim PPI??

    Hi everyone... I'm new on this site and would like to pick your brains!

    I applied for a Barclaycard online in 2005. When I applied for the credit card I did tick the option for PPIicon although I wasn't 100% sure why and if I really needed it. Consequently the paperwork arrived and once I had read through the PPI information I decided against it, so I decided not to complete and return the PPI forms to Barclaycard.

    Now.... as mad as it may seem I don't really look at my statements so I didn't realise how much Barclaycard have been taking from me. I caluclated today that I have paid £433.01 in PPI! Also do I have to add on interesticon?

    What do you think my chances are of claiming this amount back from Barclaycard?

    I have found reading all your different experiences interesting and look forward to hearing your opinions.

    HI Emma, yes you can reclaim the PPIicon, particularly if you didn't send the forms back, however it depends if ticking the box was enough and you actually had to positively tell them you didn't want it.

    Have you got all the original information or do you need to send for the agreement form etc?

    LTSB Bus Acct £1650 charges w/o against o/s balance - WON

    Halifax Pers Acct £1650 charges taken from benefits - WON

    LTSB Pers Acct - £2K charges, £1K o/d - Rob Way latest DCA

    DCAs

    Lowells/Capital One - no CCA - gone away £1500
    Lowells/MBNA - no CCA - gone away £10K
    Abbey - no CCA - £3.5K
    CL Finance - 3 court claims re GE storecards 2 withdrawn, 1 hanging by a thread
    Hillesden/DLC re Barclaycard - ongoing battle re validity of CCA - £3.5K
    Clydesdale - charges more than balance - valid CCA:o - onto 4th DCA so far
    LTSB card - £7K - no CCA - destroyed after 6 years! - latest DCA - AIC

    Others

    GE Money sec loan - £1900 in charges - settlement agreed
    GE Money sec loan - ERC of £2.5K valid for 15 years - on standby
    FirstPlus - missold PPI of £20K for friends - WON

    I didn't keep the original agreement forms, will I need to ask Barclaycard to send them to me?

    Think you should send a cca request - letter N from the following list:

    do not signicon the letter and send a postal order or cheque from someone else's account for £1. You may also need to send a SARicon which costs £10, however I would wait and see what the CCA request brings back.

    And yes, you can claim back the interesticon they have applied to the PPIicon as well.
