Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
One Bill charge £764 for 1 month on a cancelled account.
Got a big problem with OneBill.
My friend recently had a call from OneBill offering
a huge reduction in call charges for his business.
(Limited company, but only he works there.)
He said he was interested, but a few days later
when the letter arrived with the connection date and tems of
contract, alarm bells started ringing.
It looked to him to be more expensive than BT
as he's a very light user.
He know about the distance selling reguations, so
decided to cancel under the cooling off period.
So he called OneBill and said he wasn't happy, and
wanted to cancel. The girl on the phone said it would
be sorted out, and he thought that would be the end
of it.
A month later he gets an itemised bill, for £63
and listing about 10 calls he'd made.
The strange thing is, that his existing provider Talk Talk
also billed him for the exact same calls for the same month.
So he calls OneBill again, and he was assured they would
sort it out.
A few weeks later He gets a bill from OneBill for £764
claiming a cancellation charge of £500 and several
others that he has no idea what they're for.
He protested again to OneBill, who were the rude
and unhelpful and said they would send it to a DCA if
they didn't get payment in full within 7 days.
Now it's been sent to C.A.R.S. (Creditlink Account
Recovery Solutions Ltd.
What is the best way to deal with this?
My mate's never been too good at keeping paperwork
in order, and so cannot now find the two bills for the
same calls.
Would it be worth a SAR on both companies to get the
info that way.
And what would the best way of dealing with OneBill
regarding their huge "onebill" of £764?

As I recall, Watchdog covered this firm recently - you might be able to see it on their iPlayer service. As a Ltd company he cannot use consumer law to protect himself, but it may be cheaper to just complete the contract.
