Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Im new here and im really hoping someone can help. We had a nice little business selling computer consloes on ebay untill around a month ago when ebay satrted removing listings. We contact them and they said this had been done in error and would not be done again. After this it started happening again unitll they eventually blocked our account, even though we had done nothing wrong. As a result we could no longer trade. nor could we access the customers that had already purchased an item to send it out. as a result we had around 8 disputes opened through paypal. they then restircted our account and even though we got things sorted on the ebay end of things we could not trade nor could we withdraw any money from the paypal account.
Over the next week or so they emailed every couple of days askiing for verious information, Drivers Licences, Invoices, supplier information which we sent them out the same day.
Once thay had all of this information they then wanted to us to close all disputes in our paypal account which we did apart from 3. the reason for us not ending the last 3 was, one of the customers had opened a dispute due to him not recieving his stock (as we did not no because of the ebay account) which we had since posted. the other 2 were because the customer had returned the units after they had tried to chip the consoles to play copied games and it had failed causing the machine to be useless.
paypal insisted that in order to get the account running again we would have to refund the money £660.00. under protest (but knowing if we did not we were going to be in a mess), i refunded the money.
Paypal then emailed 2 days later saying thay required stock invoices for 2 46" lcd tvs we had sold over 2 months ago. even though we had no complaints and the customers had left feedback.
I called them up and arranged for the information to be emailed over and explained that we had to get this sorted as most of our money was in stock and we were unable to trade and we had become overdrawn in the bank. The Paypal agent then replaied, "well its not up to us at paypal to run your bank account". I tried to explain that this was because of paypal and he said " this is all in our terms and conditions sir ".
knowing this was going know where i asked how long this could take and he said around 24 hours.
I spent the following 3 days calling in wanting to find out what was going on, to be told "your account is in review and we will email you when our investigation is compleate"
Its been 3 weeks. Our back accounts are overdrawn, we still have verious bills ie, our business premisis, rates, electricity etc and now our personal funds have ran out!
our ebay business is now shot, the feedback we had worked so hard to build up over the last 2 years with only 2 complaints has now got 19 negatives due to us not knowing when they have emailed.
I really cant see any way out other than giving it up.
Paypal still have our money, they say it could take a further 180 days to resolve this.
I feel i have no option but to take them to court, but as they have all of our money i feel this may be hard. has anyone had any dealings with paypal in court? and what is the bast way forward?
Sorry Drew, but I don't know the answer to your question. But by 'bumping' the post back to the top of the queue, hopefully, somebody who can answer, will notice it.
I have had some more read and the above is mostly US but some very interesting things on there, they do however have a UK forum as well Horror Stories: PayPal UK edition

sadly, Ebay seem to delight in ruining people's lives. If you had a physical shop they couldn't do it, so I can only imagine that in years to come they will be hit by a mass of lawsuits. In fact, similar to teh paypal sucks site, there is one about Ebay I have seen- all stories similar to yours. Don't be surprised if your friends and family get their accounts closed too as a result of 'association' with you. I can only suggest you google these sites and take advice from there. They are a shady monopoly.
There are other trading websites, but of course, Ebay is the biggest.
