Default Help! Motor insurance claim advice

    Hello,
I have need of advice regarding an own fault motor insuranceicon claim.
last August I had an accident in my car, I swerved to avoid a dog hit a kerb and spun the car.
there was a fair bit of damage to two wheels and the front of the car.
It was un-driveable and was towed to my house.
    I am fully comprehensively insured.
The Insurance company had the car collected and taken to an "approved Garage" the garage decided the car should go to their prestige site for assessment and repair.
I have had dialogue with the garage from the beginning of this sorry saga.
The garage informed me they could not get the parts for my car easily.
I rang around a couple of main dealers and found they had the parts or could get the parts in a matter of days.
I informed the repairing garage of this and their reply was Oh well we just want to deal with the nearest main dealer to avoid problems.
I was promised the car back in October.
I contacted the insurers who said that the parts were hard to come by.
I told them where they could get the parts.
I was told the car would be ready for Christmas without fail.
January comes and goes, begining of February the garage told me they had found that there was a bent suspension arm (despite it being inspected back in August) and surprise were awaiting the parts. I contacted the insurers who told me the car would be finished in two weeks!
The car was still not ready.
I called the suppliers of parts that were needed for the cars completion and found that out of three unique (to the car) suppliers, only one had been contacted, and this was for a quote for new wheels.
This is the only source for the wheels and I know that only two sets have been made in the time frame, both of which were sent to America.
The garage claim they have the wheels!!!
The insurance company were contacted and said the car would be ready in two weeks (yeah right!)
I contacted the insurance Ombudsmanicon and they have contacted the insurers, I await a reply.
the two weeks are up (again) and no car.
My beef is I am paying nearly £800.00 a month for this car and the insurers are happy to let Joe Bloggs save them a few bob no matter how long it takes. so my now £5,600 loss on payments is really their saving by not getting the car sorted properly in short order.
Do I have any legal grounds for compensation or having them write the car off?
They could keep this saga up forever and I'd have paid for nothing.
Any tips would be most welcome
    Regards,
    Bored.
