    Question GASS V GE Money

    Please can you help,

I have just received a statement from GE Money for a BHS account that has been opened for near on 5 years, I am shocked at the amount they are charging per month in Account Cover.

From memory - when the account was opened it was done in a BHS store and was done by an assistant operating the till. I have searched my records for the orginal paperwork but cannot find it.

I think that my first step would be to send a S.A.R with obligatory £10.00 asking for all the info,

But my question is am I entitled to ask for this money back over that period of time? I am lacking in knowledge in relation to these types of insurance on accounts and would really like to know if anyone has success in getting their money back and the steps taken to do it.

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Gass,

It's possible to claim back PPIicon if it was mis-sold to you e(.g you didn't get a full explanation of the T & C's of said cover). By the sounds of your note above that may be an avenue of investigation.

This is not my area of expertise(if such a thing exists!) but I'm sure someone will be able to answer more fully, think that you will likely have to give us more information to go on.

Hi Thanks for the reply Struggling Simon - much appreciated

I cannot recall at all the assistant explaining details in relation to T&C, we had a basket full of shopping at the time and were asked if we wanted to open an account and put the value of the shopping on the account, which we jumped at at the time.

The forms were completed at the time and neither hybby and I can recall being spoken about in relation to insurance on the account. I do recall them explaining the Points system which adds discount to your purchases at specific points in time (though this has never happened)

Even if I cannot claim this back, I am still entitled to stop the Account Cover am I not?

If anyone else is looking in I would appreciate any guidance what so ever in this matter.

I'm on the same boat than you with to store cards via GE Money. Mine goes back to '01, and like you were opened in the shops by sales assistants no on them mentioned the PPIicon the only thing they keep mentioning was the discounts and offers, blah, blah, blah.

I sent a letter for each of the accounts and I have got the same reply in both, pretty much they don't want to admit the PPI was mis-sold. I was told to sign where the lady marked an x and that was it. I have not received paperwork in any case for the insurance and until now I didn't realised what it was as I thought it was some kind of adminicon fee. Also not mention that the insurance was optional.

You can see my post it that helps you out. They even send me copies of the application forms, which I post them so people can see them. The funny thing is that in one of them my siganture is only in the PPi bit, I didn't sign to authorise the opening of the account.

I'm subscribe to you post now.

    Hi Gass

Im also in same position as you over an Evans Card.
Yes you can stop the account cover just write and tell them you want it cancelled (I did that last June).
I am trying to claim back my PPIicon from GE Money stating I was mis sold by a shop assistant who didnt even know what she was selling (well thats my arguement)

Good luck. Will follow your post.
