    Default Parking Penalty Charge Notice

Hi I am Valiant4 and new to the forum and would appreciate some advice please.
I recently received a penalty charge notice of £80 from a private parking company after being parked on a private car park. The car park did not have a ticket machine, and the notice issued does not refer to a time or date, how should I handle this.
    Thanks
    V4

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I must admit, this is not really my area, being a confirmed pedestrian. However, did the private car park disply any notices about fines etc? It may help the more knowledgeable who I am sure will be just around the corner to help you with this.

All help is merely my opinion only - please seek legal advice if you need to as I am only qualified in SEN law.

First and foremost - do not pay, by and large these private "penalties" are [problem]s - simple as that. The "penalty" is nothing more than an unsolicited invoice, a piece of paper with no particular significance

The Parking Companies are however, nothing if not not persistent. You will get increasingly threatening demands through the post.

    Just remember:

    1. Do not initiate correspondance, let them contact you. They will get registered keeper details from DVLA, it costs them £2.50, let them incur this cost.

    2. If writing back use Bernie's template letters, they are curt and no information is given away.

    3. Do not get involved in their "appeals" process. These are usually shams and consist of the parking company deciding for itself whether it is a good idea whether it gets paid or not. You can imagine what the outcome is.

    4. Do not respond to every letter. If it is obvious that they are ignoring your letters in their demands then why bother responding to them?

    5. Don't worry, from our understanding of the figures, less than 1 in a 1000 of these cases result in a filing at court. Of these, none have turned up at county courticon to face a properly defended case.

    6. Stand firm, don't give in to these bullies.
