Question about buying gearbox and labour separately
Hi all,
My auto gearbox went belly up, as described in the other thread, and the gearbox mechanics want between £900 and £1200 +vat to rebuild it. Alternatively, I can purchase the gearbox and labour separately, for nearly half the total (£275 x 2 + Vat = £650), but is it worth it?
See, if the job goes wrong, how do I prevent the the supplier and fitter pointing the finger at each other, leaving Mr Muggins here in the middle?
Re: Question about buying gearbox and labour separately
Hi Jaybee.
Is this a gearbox 'specialist'? If not then you should take it to a specialist as the garage will not be doing the work but taking the box to one and then add extra to the cost of the rebuild plus their labour.
