Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
i went online today to pay my Egg card, and i discovered my account was missing, i rang egg and they said cause my new card wasn't activated i can't pay my account, they are sending me a new card as they have reported mine lost, but the ironic thing is cause i can't pay my account on time i'm going to incurr charges. i said this isn't fair! what can i do about this? i have read their terms and conditions but can't find anything relating to this
If you retain a print of the dated screen error message saying card missing, and collect together Egg responses and admissions in writing or in email, proving that the palaver was down to them not you, I cannot see a cat in hell's chance how Egg can penalise you for their own maladministration.
If anything they ought to give full refund plus compensation for your time and trouble, if the error was provable all down to them. Regulators like the OFT and the fos are there to see that tinpot institutions do not arrogate to themselves the powers of the government.
If you were sent a new card which required an act of notification from you to activate it upon receipt, and this were not done, then I cannot understand how an unactivated card was permitted to receive debit spending which in turn now requires minimum monthly pay-in. Either the card was activated requiring minimum payment, or it was not activated and no spending would have been accepted.
